Collaborative Science Project 2023-24
What is the Collaborative Science Project?
An interdisciplinary activity in which all G12 students at LIS work together on a problem related to science
A requirement of the IB
An opportunity to learn about science and share it with others
A fun project where the processes involved in scientific investigations matter as much as the products.
Your Task
Build a Rube Goldberg Machine demonstrates the 6 simple machines and has elements of chemistry and biology.

What is a Rube Goldberg Machine?
A Rube Goldberg machine, named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, is a chain reaction-type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and (impractically) overly complicated way. Usually, these machines consist of a series of simple unrelated devices; the action of each triggers the initiation of the next, eventually resulting in achieving a stated goal. (Wikipedia)

Rules:
You need to incorporate 8 simple machines. Click here for a refresher on simple machines.
You also need to incorporate at least one biology and one chemistry element into your machine.
The machine must have a minimum of ten (10) steps. There is no maximum number of steps.
The machine must run for around one (1) minute per run.
The machine must be able to be reset (run multiple times).
