Measuring HR and Ventilation Rates
Lesson Objectives
Content Objective: Explore the various methods that ventilation and heart rate can be measured.
Language Objective: Students should be able to collect data and create a table and graph of the data and be able to support data using statistics.
Book Reference: p. 294
Syllabus Details:
Monitoring of ventilation in humans at rest and after mild and vigorous exercise ( Practical 6)
Activites
Activity 1 - Measuring Lung Capacity and ways to measure exercise rate.
Activity 2 - Quick Respiration Experiment
Your Task:
In a group of 3-4 students you are going to design a lab that looks at the effect of vital capacity, ventilation rate, tidal volume or minute ventilation on the effect of exercise.
You will then briefly present your findings with a table, graph and stats.
Guidelines:
This is a collaborative task
This is not a full lab report, nor do I expect you to do a full investigation.
I do, however, expect you to carry out an experiment that has control variables, etc.
